After watching the short clip of Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech what did you take away from his advice? What does this quote mean to you -"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."

This quote, to me at least, is a challenge. I believe that in life we face so many obstacles that other people put in our way or that are already present for some unknown reason. However, I believe that these obstacles do not have to be permanent, and that if you recognize the ability in yourself to do great things, you will then be able to do those great things. All too often people in our society forget that no one is smarter than them, everyone is just a different thinker; they forget that we need all types of thinkers in order to have a society that is at its full potential. From my perspective, this quote is a wake up call. Opportunity does look a lot like hard work, but it makes you a better person when you build a life rather than just living it. If it is your life, it doesn't make sense for others to be the designers. It seems as though Ashton Kutcher is telling us to do more than to go through the motions: he wants us to really live. Even though Ashton has met his goals in this speech, he isn't prepared to quit. It is like he said, he "never quit until he had his next job," I believe that is the attitude to live life with if you want to be successful and proud of yourself. Ashton's advice was primarily centered on allowing people to understand that inside of them there was a person who is hardworking, "sexy", and creative; he just wants people to open up and let that person live.
